Ran and finished the Disney Marathon 2009. I am a marathoner now. And I’m walking funny today. But I did it.

Full race report in a few days. Thank you all so much for your encouragement.

I love the “recovery” walk and the knowing looks/smiles exchanged between others walking the same way. Enjoy and take it easy! Can’t wait to read/hear about the whole thing. Safe travels, too.

Hey Gordon – I am back of the packer like you who discovered your podcast about a month or so ago. You inspire me, man! My dream is to also run a marathon and you have demonstrated to me and so many others that it is achievable. You – and your family – must be very proud. On your race day, I checked your progress on the results site – and your twitter page – and I am so glad you accomplished your goal (and beat that heat in the last part of the race!). I was only able to listen to your last two podcasts before your race (I arrived late to the party here) and am now going back to the first few. I hope you continue because I really do think your podcasts provide a different perspective from some of the others that are out there. You capture the perspective of someone who is just managing to meet some of these large goals – while others have been there and done that – and I like it that you aren’t as fast a runner as the others :). Don’t lose that perspective now that YOU ARE A MARATHONER. Congrats!

Preston, Hudson, I and are so proud of you! It was such a wonderful thing to see the joy and pride in your eyes as you crossed the finish line. You are MY MARATHONER! I love you!

Way to go. Hopefully you have had time to forget the physical pain and remember only the elation of crossing the line. No matter what, you are now and forever a marathoner.

Congratulations on your accomplishment! I too ran the Disney 2009 marathon and it was my first ever race/long run. I wanted to do the half, but it was filled so I decided to go head in first on this. Thankfully I finished in 5:45:16 with only swollen ankles, knees and a huge cheesey grin. Not too shabby for only 10 miles being the longest run I had. I don’t know about you but I am hooked! There is no better feeling then crossing that finishline knowing you just did what most will never do. So many emotions and feelings blocks that last few miles of pain to get you through. This was the most amazing moment of my life.
